Modern Nostalgic Studio...

was born from a passion. I started making collages to display my favorite photos on, and pretty soon I found myself making them for friends and family. Then I fell in LOVE with quilting - but it's SO time consuming -- and one day I stumbled upon a technique for making mini art quilts and discovered I could combine the two things I love the most - quilting and collage!

So I started creating "blank" collages and art quilts onto which anyone can add the story. I think of it this way: I create the stage - you provide the story!

My art reflects my love and passion for story, old things, and my fascination for combining the old with modern. There is something magical to me in putting things that seemingly don't belong together, together - and seeing the beauty and harmony it creates. I am insatiably curious about people and have always been inspired by everyone's unique life stories. I ask a lot of questions. I collect old diaries and memory books, old calligraphy and love letters dating from the 1800's - 1950's (oh how I treasure these items!) I use these elements in my works. I love pattern, texture and color - layers and layers of color. I love the emotion and mood and psychology of color and have studied it extensively.

I believe in sentiment, I believe that photographs hold emotion and memories frozen in time, I love words, and I absolutely love old junk! I truly think everything is beautiful! And I believe in helping people express these same values.
